HOPress Holiday Books Part IV

Here we are; the final installment of our titles for this year from HOPress-Shorehouse Books.

First up today is Stacey Roberts author of Trailer Trash, With a Girl’s Name –

When the author was born, his mother did the unthinkable. She gave him a girl’s name—Stacey.

But Stacey’s name was just the first hurdle he’d face in his uphill climb from birth to manhood. He also had to deal with an entitled older brother, the hodgepodge of different men his mother was involved with, and the nomadic lifestyle he was forced to endure for five years. And to top it all off, his mother couldn’t cook a decent meal to save her life.

Trailer Trash, With a Girl’s Name is Stacey Roberts’ lighthearted, often hilarious account of growing up in an unstable household during the 1980s. Full of humor, history, and hope, it follows Stacey from the hospital room where he was born to the Winnebago that carried him across the country, filling in the gaps with a wit and humor that anyone with a dysfunctional family can appreciate.trailertrash

Next is the prolific and talented Thomas Sullivan and So Much Time, So Little Change

Life is full of strange and awkward events seemingly designed to annoy us. To Thomas Sullivan, these trials and tribulations are actually meant to entertain and inform us. Within these pages you’ll encounter a person who finds humor and wisdom in: Corporate hair salons that smell like meth labs. Running late for a flight, only to find himself on The Terrorist Watch List. Watching The Peoples Court with a stranger in the world’s gloomiest bar. Surviving condemnation from the hard-working folks at the DMV. Fixing up a house when he knows nothing about home improvement. And much more wonderful absurdity.

Oh, how we love the work of  Mary O Paddock! From short stories to poetry, her words will melt your heart. Please check out not only her author page on HOPress but her Amazon Page as well to see all her work!  Souvenir is one of our favorites!

Souvenir is a collection of poems, vignettes, and short stories about women facing common problems and challenges in uncommon settings: a young single mother who finds comfort in the silent presence of stranger at a bus stop; an elderly woman who seeks an unusual solution when she discovers she is surrounded by people who are sleepwalking through their lives, a witch fleeing a bad marriage to a violent man, and many more.
