It’s alright Rihanna.
The most important thing is that you stopped crying and went back to recording.
Everybody now
“Cake, cake, cake, cake…”

You should get the longer “dance” version.
I was looking at that version while doing my, eh, research.
In her defense, a good cake, like fine wine, brings me to tears too
Jill Y has also been known to shed a tear after wine but we’re talking about something totally different here.
Yes, 106 repetitions of “cake” seems excessive, but that’s the point because “cake” doesn’t just mean “cake”; it means every alluring, distracting, seductive thing that “The Man” (or Life in general) tantalizes us with in order to make us his “bitch.” It means “winning the lottery” or any other unearned and therefore empty prize that we are deceived into thinking will redeem our lives but in truth will only make us lazy, self-indulgent, and mortally obese. Remember that Hansel and Gretel were offered all the cake they thought they wanted, too—and then remember WHY. Who isn’t moved to tears by the deep tragedy embodied in Rihanna’s lyrics? She weeps for us. She weeps for all of humanity.
I wouldn’t even notic the song if it wasn’t for the many, many mentions of cake.
I was brought to tears too, but mostly because I can no longer eat cake whenever I want.
This is exactly why Rihanna is nothing but a tease.
