Come See the Paris Festival.

Instead of the inauguration, why not attend the Philadelphia Orchestra for the Paris Festival. Starting with the second week, they will be showcasing the works of Maurice Ravel, with the highlight being his Bolero, which will be played for seven days straight. Starting with one piccolo and a snare drum, it expands to 50 piccolo, 27 snare drums, 84 bassoons, 504 oboes, 112 flutes, 736 clarinets, 214 saxophones, 34 cors anglais, a 600 piece string ensemble, 140 and 139 pairs of tam-tams and cymbals respectively, 24 timpani, 78 celestas, 3 harps, and in the end the stage collapses.
