Many people are surprised to discover that Newt Gingrich was in favor of a mandate for individuals to purchase health insurance in the 90s and as late as 2005.
He changed his mind when he realized that if more diseases were cured he could never in good conscience leave his wife.

The fact that he’s opposed to it now suggest that he dropped his health stock from his portfolio thinking there might be a a government option in the health care reform bill.
