Dear Lord, please forgive me for my horrific cultural blunder. I joyfully wished my British relatives a Happy Gobble-Gobble Day. After their fit of hysterical laugher they explained that I had just wished them to have a Happy Blow-Job Day.
P.s. Santa, please send me a Universal Slang Translation book for Christmas, Amen.
I know there’s never going to be a National Blow-Job Day but hell, there should be!
All of my male friends think you might be on to something Bill! Personally, as a woman I think there should be a National Blow-off-Your-Job and go shopping day.;)
Being married to the author and being British I know when not to comment. Discretion is the better part of valor, plus I’m no good at cooking and do so love really good home cooked meals. Nuff said. 🙂
That’s correct dear discretion is important and thank you for not telling me the meaning of gobble-gobble!!
1. Language barriers are some of life’s most interesting little complications.
2. Do the British celebrate Thanksgiving Day? If so, whatever happened to that time-honored British tradition of eating roast goose on holidays?
That’s right Kathy they don’t celebrate Thanksgiving making my holiday wishes even more embarrassing! My goose (their choice for Christmas Dinner) was definitely cooked on that one!! 😉
I think we have that holiday too, to honor the actions of a recent President. It’s just not talked about much.
I hear it’s become quite the holiday tradition at the Clinton household!
