HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY HUMOROUTCASTS.COM

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY, HUMOROUTCASTS.COM. Yes, even though it took us until May to truly get going, April 6th was my very first post on the site.  I never dreamed that only one year later, we would be where we are today and still growing.

If anyone is unaware, I started HumorOutcasts.com as a place for humor writers to have a voice. So many of us were not welcome on the “big” sites unless we fit our humor into their narrow scope of what was appropriate.  I asked a handful of writers to post on my new site and from that handful of writers, we have grown to more than 40 writers who come to us from many walks of life and who live all over the globe.

I am so grateful to those who post on HumorOutcasts, and as you know, I am always looking for new ways to get our writers as much notice as possible.  My mind reels with ideas as you all know, and I am working to bring them to light. Each day, I wake up thinking about what I can do differently or better than the day before to make HO the premiere site to go for humor, and I am going to continue to make that my goal.

Again, Happy Birthday to us and I know that we have many years ahead of us too. We have grown from infancy to toddlerhood and I am ready and excited to get us to the next stage as well. A shout out to Betsy Dickinson and to those writers who help me out so much, and I think our second year is going to be another wild ride!

  1. Happy Birthday to Humor Outcasts, and thanks to Donna and the others for an amazing job.

Wouldn’t it be fun sometime to contact those other sites that thought our writing wasn’t worth bothering with and really rubbing their noses in this site’s success!

  2. Happy Birthday, HO!

You want to give us all more exposure? Here is an idea I know everybody will love. We’ll all pose naked and you can post our photo on billboards around the world inviting other writers to become HOs. Make sure you put the youngest and prettiest or handsomest writers up front.

    1. I think I’ll pass on this, if you don’t mind. The sight of some of us in the altogether would scare too many people away.

  3. . . . and we don’t look a day over 10-months old! Happy Birthday Humoroutcasts.com! Thank you Donna and Betsy for giving us a place to showcase our talent.

  4. Who’d a thought it? What a wonderful accomplishment. Everyone is right, you are an amazing burst of energy that inspires us all. Your mind is full of wit and it comes out in your writing and your broadcasts. Now, enough about you. This site was a great idea, and I love the fact that it’s dedicated to humor, something the world needs more of. Wait a minute, can’t end the sentence that way. Something the world needs is more humor. That’s better. Happy Anniversary! And it’s just going to keep getting better and better.

    1. Thanks Pattie. I think it will just keep getting better and better. I appreciate your support and your great wit here! Can’t do any of this without the writers. 🙂

  5. Donna, What a wonderful milestone!! Looking forward to the next year of this great site with you and all the behind the scene people!

    1. Thanks Mary. There are so many behind the scene people which makes it fun. I love the stories behind the writers and how they create their work. This is so much fun to do!

  6. I am honored to be part of the amazing HO team! Donna’s energy, talent, and kindness are endless, so I’m looking forward to the next chapter and getting to know all of the writers better. With Betsy riding shotgun, HO can only get bigger and better. Happy Birthday!!!

    1. Okay, people are being a bit too generous where I am concerned. The fact is that without the writers, there is no HO. So, people, all of you writers, take a bow! Thanks Nancy for so much support.

  7. Your energy is amazing Donna. Your books, radio and on-line broadcasts and the many humorous and anecdotal articles you put out are simply inspiring. HumorOutcasts is the jewel in your crown and I for one am glad to be part of it, even though my absence from time to time is apparent.

    1. LB, you know the rules: everyone posts when they can and when you do, your work is always a joy to read. You are an original HOer, and so I am especially honored that you have stuck by the growing pains and my experimentation — a lot of trial by fire. You are and always will be a special part of HO.

  8. Happy birthday Donna and crew. Genuine people are hard to come by and you’re as genuine as it gets. From someone who’s massively cynical, you guys rock and it takes a lot to make someone like me, say that. I only wish, half the people I know, were as honest as you guys.

    1. Bill Y you are going to make me cry! LOL You, sir make my reads go up and each morning, your Irish wit makes me giggle. Thank you for finding us and being a part of HO.

    1. Suzy, so honored to have you here. Thanks for the out loud giggles and the twitter contests to name the male anatomy so google doesn’t get upset at me. 🙂

  9. Happy Birthday HumorOutcasts’ I think I’ve been reading for the whole year. Glad to see you growing and going strong!! Keep it up! I’m looking forward to another year of laughs. 🙂

  10. Congratulations on making HO a fun place to “stop by”! Happy Birthday and many more! You have attracted some really good humor writers, so you no longer need to rely on hacks like me. I will say that I am annoyed at the AdChoices ads that cover the article text, without any clear way to delete them! I couldn’t read all of your first two paragraphs because they were covered.

    1. Mike, all you have to do is refresh the page. That is a small price to pay to get some revenue to keep the site going and promote them. The ads are not ours; we use a third party service and that only happens on occasion — not that often
