An Editor Writes . . .

Cartoon-Character-Editor

AS A RESPECTED broadsheet newspaper editor, I can’t say how appalled I am at the News of the World’s hacking into Prince William’s personal mobile voicemail messages.

It is simply outrageous the way the tabloid press behave, working to a prurient peep-show agenda merely too boost their flagging circulations.

In order to understand quite how disgusting and outrageous this invasion of privacy has been, turn to pages 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 plus an Opinion piece on page 16 all containing full transcripts of the voicemails that are so personal and private that any editor agreeing to print them should resign immediately.

I’m thinking of entering next year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
