Perry Orders New Session To Pass Abortion Restrictions, New Rules Bar Sneakers and Depend Undergarments

A day after a heroic filibuster by Senator Wendy Davis and an “unruly mob” in the state Capitol blocked passage of a bill that would have imposed strict new regulations on abortion in Texas, Governor Rick Perry affirmed that Republicans will try again.

Official footwear

Perry targeted July 1 for another special session to take up the abortion bill, and this time additional rules will be in place in anticipation of any additional shenanigans by Davis. Davis famously wore comfortable pink sneakers on the floor for her marathon filibuster attempt, but new rules will disallow comfortable shoes and will only allow Dutch wooden clogs. Also disallowed will be any type of Depend undergarments.

No no

Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst says that any comfortable shoes will be confiscated immediately and the women Senators will be stripped and checked for adult diapers which might aid in a lengthy filibuster which disallows bathroom breaks. In accordance with the bill, male members will not be checked.
