Quadriplegic Crosses United States By Wheelchair, Wolf Blitzer Insists He Thank The Lord

Twenty four year old Jeremy Wagner, from Los Angeles, recently completed a cross-country journey which ended in Norfolk, Virginia, 16-months after it began.

Wheelchair

What’s amazing about this story is that Wagner is a quadriplegic, unable to use any of his limbs. He was born without legs, lost one arm when he was crushed in a rock slide, and the other arm in a freak gardening accident. He achieves mobility only through use of a specially-designed wheelchair which is powered only when he breathes into a tube affixed near his head. He traveled only in small bursts because he has terrible asthma and could only move at night because he is allergic to sunlight. Unfortunately, this may have factored into the 12 collisions with motor vehicles which he endured on the trip as well as multiple bouts of frostbite. He had been using an assistant guide monkey, but the monkey went crazy, clawed his face so bad that it required reconstructive surgery, and also infected him with rabies. Though he wished to share this triumph with family members, he could not do so because they were murdered in a grisly gang homicide in which their address was mistaken for a rival gang leader’s.

Wolf Blitzer met Wagner in Virginia. “You gotta thank the Lord for all this great fortune, Am I right? Eh? Am I right? God is good!”

Wagner responded with what could only be described as a sigh. Or maybe a wheeze.
