Sometimes I don’t understand what a word or a prefix means. Many times context can help. Each time I read or hear such a thing, I make an educated guess about what the word or prefix could possibly mean. Many years ago, I kept hearing and reading “pseudo”. In the context, it may have been something like “figure skating is a pseudo-sport” or “John Doe is a pseudonym”. I quickly figured out the respective meanings – that figure skating is not a real sport and John Doe is not a real nym.
So.. Along these lines, I have never heard the name “Rick Santorum” without being prefaced by the term “uber-conservative”. I am pretty sure “uber” is from some other language, most likely German. But with repeated contextual clues, I feel fairly certain to have deduced that “uber” cannot possibly mean anything but “asshole”.
Conservative already meant asshole – uber just means “deeper”
Politician equals asshole, so the “uber” would be redundant.
The sensible people in the state of Pennsylvania, which spawned this idiot, thank you for this short but sweet and true diatribe.
