Ground Zero YMCA

In a time and place not too far from here:

“It’s been nine years since the radical Christian terrorist group, “Heaven’s Hate”, destroyed the National Institute of Science. Countless lives were lost that day. A small, but violent, group did not approve of the exhibits concerning the age of the earth, dinosaurs, and the arrangement of the planets. In their manifestos, they also cited their opposition to the now-common use of stem cells to regenerate spinal tissue to reverse paralysis. Many lives were lost, but also much valuable life-saving research was destroyed.

That part of the city is now an urban wasteland. Shuttered storefronts everywhere. The Institute has not even been rebuilt yet. It’s a genuine blight on the city. Now there’s talk of a Christian group building something called a YMCA in one of the abandoned buildings. Allegedly, the building is for sports leagues and exercise. But people are scared. They know what it’s really for. Worship. It’s a thumb in the eye of all legitimate scientific endeavors. It’s a victory palace for young-earthers and it’s one big “screw you” to science and all that it’s done for society.

Sure, this is an under-served area of the city that seriously needs development and many city residents who actually live in the area claim to have a need for these services, but let’s make no mistake about this. This YMCA is really a church. Yes, it may seem like a harmless place for sporting events and lap swimming, but the children are required to say a YMCA pledge at midfield before each game! It’s indoctrination to their stone-aged world view at its worst! First, a pledge. The next thing you know they’ll be stoning people who work on Sundays! It’s in their bible, just read it!

I know a lot of intelligent people claim that there is nothing to fear from this YMCA, and that it might even be a great place to go if you’re short on your dough. Or that you can get yourself clean, you can have a good meal, and you can do whatever you feel. I won’t even deny that. I don’t really even know any Christians. Maybe that old lady down the street with the funny beads. But I’ve seen them on TV, and TV tells me all I ever need to know.”

  1. My TV says that scantily clad women like me. It even gives me their phone numbers. 1-900 something… You think they hang out at the YMCA, my TV doesn’t say.
