A really kind of creepy, confusing, cruel thing to do to your dog is to gnaw and tug and eventually snarf down a piece of beef jerky right in front of his face.
Not to worry — that’s not my dog — that’s a “flicker” dog. I give my beloved Sandy far more treats than I give my kids, much to their chagrin. (Only did that jerky thing once, but it was pretty funny to watch her confused face — the dog’s, that is).
I don’t dare give real treats to my cat. I would have a demanding monster on my hands within a day! I did give little pieces of “people” food to her predecessor, who was more mellow tempered. He grew to expect them, of course, but I wasn’t sorry that I started the trend.
