Red Ribbon Week

October 1, 2012
By

Every year at my kids’ school, they have “Red Ribbon Week”. It’s a big event for drug and alcohol abuse awareness. Each day of the week, the kids do a particular thing based on the theme for that day. One day is “wear sweatpants to school” day. Another is “go to school with crazy hair”. And still another is “go to school in your pajamas”.

I’m not sure that this has been completely thought out so well, though, since these are the sorts of things a drunk or addict might do.

I did all three of those things in college and trust me alcohol was involved. ;)

Well, I guess if they figure it feels real enough, the kids will learn more? Although if someone said I could hang out in my PJs all day, I might adapt that lifestyle too.
