A Picture Is Worth 1,000 Words, But I’ll Keep It To 180

PRESS RELEASE:

Death-metal sensations The Grudge announce the release of their hot new live album “Jihad To Be There.” Available July 1 in stores everywhere. Contains the smash single “Allah Long The Watchtower.”

Okay, I made that up. But what’s up with these insurgent photos? Have you noticed the subtle shift? Unless I’m mistaken, they’re now hiring rock band photographers to take their pictures. Why do I think this? Because the photos are starting to meet both ironclad requirements for rock band photos – (1) the linear formation of members and (2) nobody looking happy or smiling. Of course, in this case the grimness is probably warranted. Those aren’t ski masks, it’s facial hair. Which in the 120 degree heat must be hell.

And the leader up front? I could swear I saw him at an Abraham Lincoln impersonator contest I went to last summer.

I’ve searched far and wide on Google. And I think I’ve uncovered the photographer. It’s whoever took this photo:

I know what you’re thinking. But no, the guy second from right is not Matthew McConaughey sporting an Air Supply perm. But I could be wrong about that as well. I’m often wrong about a lot of things.

  1. I can’t stop laughing at this, between the pics and the writing. Awesome. And there’s something about that Abe Lincoln terrorist who also reminds me of Will Ferrell.

  2. I personally can’t wait until they make the drift to having caricatures. BTW, the McConaughey/Air Supply reference is awesome. The perfect song for the guys in the top photo to sing, “I’m All Outta Love”

  3. That just has to be Matt McConaughey. I’m told he can be bought with money.

  4. This is awesome! I’m not sure how long you spent analyzing these pictures but you’re dead on with the Lincoln and McConaughey references.

The title and song names are gold too. This is a really funny and clever piece. WELL DONE!
