Motivation; to race or not to race, that is the question.

For many runners, the daily activity of running whether it be on the road, on the trails or even on the treadmill, the urge to enter a race never enters their mind. They are quite content to never have to face the competition.

Unfortunately, they fail to understand that, unless you are a professional runner who races for a living, the only competitor is yourself.

“Running is not about being better than someone else. It’s about being better than you used to be”

Fall is here, so go ahead and sign up for a 5K one weekend (Hey, it’s only 3.1 miles right! You can do that in your sleep!).

Here are a few motivational tips while you’re running:

  1. You can paste your finishers’ picture on Facebook!
  2. You’ll have something to talk about at work on Monday!
  3. If you place in the top three in your age division you’ll get a great looking medal to hang in your office!
  4. There’s a cold beer or a glass of wine when you’re done!
