Viewers of the Vice-Presidential debate on Tuesday night were stunned when JD Vance and Tim Walz embraced after the event and proceeded to dance, ballroom-style, for nearly four minutes.
Debate co-moderator Norah O’Donnell said that the spontaneous dance was “incredibly touching. While it is true that both candidates were quite civil toward one another throughout the debate, no one was prepared for what happened next. When the two gentlemen met at center stage after delivering their final statements of the evening, Senator Vance looked deep into Governor Walz’s eyes and asked, ‘May I have this dance?’ The Governor said yes, they took each other’s hands, and danced a Viennese Waltz as ‘The Way You Look Tonight’ played on Vance’s smartphone. It was marvelous. Absolutely marvelous.”
Donald Trump was thrilled: “Isn’t JD the best dancer you ever saw? Such a magnificent dancer, better than Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly. I would let Melania dance with him, that’s how good he is.”
Vice President Harris has yet to comment.
