My wife was dismayed this morning that I was going to get my passport photo without shaving first. But what’s the point of having a semi-permanent depiction of a beauty standard I can’t possibly hope to live up to?

The picture should be who you ARE, not who you COULD be!
While normally, I always take the side of your wife because she deserves that, I have to say with a heavy beard, customs might not believe it’s you unless you shaved right before boarding a plane. So, in a rare moment, I am giving you the win on this disagreement.
