Horsing Around?

KYstateflag

The official state motto of Kentucky is “United We Stand, Divided We Fall”. The original founders of the state believed this so deeply that they created the state flag (seen above) to show two men at their wedding ceremony. Very forward thinking.

But there seems to be some deep divisions boiling over in the state. This probably has to do with approaching congressional contests. On August 14, WHAS11.com in Louisville reported that a threat was making the rounds on social media. Based on the revenge movie The Purge, the neer-do-wells responsible posted this image:

Purge

The Louisville police aren’t taking this lightly. In a statement a department spokesmen said. “We are taking this threat very seriously. It appears that an apostrophe has become the first victim.”

But it didn’t stop there. Hinting at political motivations, a second graphic started making the rounds shortly after the first. This one was even uglier:

Mitch McConnell, John Barrasso

Man, I hope things settle down. I really want to go to The Derby some time. But not if this keeps up. I hope it’s all just a joke.

  1. Interesting flag Tom. Maybe the two men are drunk and if they stop holding on to each other they will fall over, hence the state motto. Just a thought.
