In a press conference yesterday, Audi Chairman Markus Duesmann announced that the German automaker will drop “Omicron” as the name for its flashy new entry into the international sports-car market.
“This decision has nothing to do with the Omicron COVID variant,” Duesmann explained. “Rather, it reflects the fact that ‘Omicron’ is a letter in the Greek alphabet, and last week my daughter Helga was dumped by her Greek boyfriend. No way we’re going to stick with a name that honors that dumpster fire of a country.”
Is there a back-up name for the new vehicle, which is due to roll off the assembly line in March 2022?
“We’re thinking ‘Katrina’,” says Duesmann.
Good call.
