Arizona State Quarterback Uses Transfer Portal to Switch Sides at Halftime of NCAA Game

In Salt Lake City last Saturday, a precedent was set that could fundamentally alter betting on college football.  With his team trailing the University of Utah by a score of 24-3, Arizona State University backup quarterback Brandon Crazille dropped out of ASU at halftime and immediately enrolled at Utah via the transfer portal.  In the second half, he was on the field for six plays as a Ute, completing two passes for 17 yards as Utah drubbed the Sun Devils, 55-3.

How did the transfer take place so quickly?

John Marfield, Executive Director of Admissions at Utah, explained: “We place an admissions officer on the sidelines at all home football games. If an opposing player wants to transfer to our school, the officer is authorized to make an on-the-spot decision based on two criteria.  First, does the applicant have an ACL tear?  Second, has he been arrested for a violent crime in the past 90 days?  If the answer is NO to both questions, we’re good to go.  We find the kid a uniform, suit him up, and take care of the paperwork later.”

After the game, Crazille was ecstatic: “Arizona State SUCKS.  Utah is everything I ever wanted in a college.  I can’t wait to start skipping classes at my new school on Monday!”
