Trump’s Posthumous Pardons of Himmler and Goebbels Spark Controversy

Few were surprised but many were dismayed this week when President Donald J. Trump granted pardons to Third Reich Hall of Fame members Heinrich Himmler and Joseph Goebbels.

The President asserted that neither Himmler nor Goebbels had ever assaulted a Washington, DC police officer or tried to lynch Mike Pence during an insurrection, so no one should be griping about my decision.”

When a reporter asked Trump why he didn’t also pardon Hitler, he replied, “I wanted to leave something for JD to do in 2029.”
