In an upcoming issue of The Atlantic, Joseph Kahn, Executive Editor of The New York Times, writes that the hilarious, pretentious absurdity of its Style Magazine renders unnecessary a separate comics section in the Sunday Times.
“Once you’ve seen the truly bizarre outfits that models wear in our magazine, you’ll agree that there’s no need for the funny papers,” says Kahn. “I swear, you’ll laugh so hard that you’ll piss your pants, and maybe someone else’s. Really, does anybody actually wear these clothes outside of the locked ward of a mental hospital? Who needs ‘Calvin and Hobbes’ or ‘The Far Side’ when you’ve got an army of pouty-faced, lobotomized models wearing bras and codpieces made out of calcified jellyfish mucus?
