My brain has never fully understood the concept of understanding. Rather than explain all the things that I don’t understand, it’s probably easier to explain what I do understand; I understand the politics of the Star Wars trilogy but not the prequels but that’s only because my mind has decided to pretend that the prequels don’t exist but that’s only because there is no reason apart from greed, for George Lucas to have ever made the prequels that don’t exist. I’ve been trying to get my head around the principles of reason, logic and magnets and I feel like I’m actually getting somewhere until I run into a brick wall and it hurts:

It’s amazing that some budding magician hasn’t used a dryer in their magic act! They can sure make socks disappear.
After they have shown the sock disappearance, when they say “Look! Nothing up my sleeve…Well, what do you know! There’s that missing sock!”
I suppose that would be one explanation for it alright and I can’t think of any other so yeah, we’ll go with that!
Ah now you have me looking on YouTube for magicians making socks disappear as part of their act!
I haven’t even bothered to watch any of the Star Wars prequels. What’s the good of following the life of Anikin Skywalker when you know already that he’s just going to end up being Darth Vader. That’s a textbook example of ruining a good villain. Now every time we see that black-cloaked, black-helmeted super-menace striding around and hear him talk with the voice of James Earl Jones, we’ll think, “Oh, that’s just that nice Anikin Skywalker playing dress-up. He’ll come to his senses.” It’s just not the same.
You’re not missing anything with those prequels at all, at all. If Lucas had of called them “I’m rehashing the franchise and ruining part of cinematic history because I’m a greedy bastard”, he would have gained respect from me. It still wouldn’t make the prequels any good but at least there would be a degree of honesty involved.
I think sometimes writers (and probably filmmakers) have a hard time letting go of our characters. Maybe that’s Lucas’ problem. He needs to get some fresh ideas.
I think you’ve hit the filmakers nail on he head there!
When you figure this out, please let me know. I am utterly confused by the entire dryer situation.
if anyone ever figures it out, I reckon there’s some serious money to be made!
