Kathy Minicozzi Earns Honorable Mention in Writing Contest

Before you all say, “Big hairy freaking deal,” just let me say that this is the first writing contest where I have actually won something, even though it’s just an Honorable Mention and having my work seen on their website. I have only been at this writing thing for a few years, and am just now finding my “voice.”1

Anyway, I am doing the Ecstatic Dance of Joy at this, my baby step toward the Literary Big Time.

1Whatever that is. Writers and creative writing teachers are always talking about “voice” and confusing everybody. If any of you manage to figure it all out, please let me know. My Honorable Mention was for  Password Pains :

Kathy Minicozzi, a writer from New York, earned an Honorable Mention in the most recent “America’s Funniest Humor!”TM Writing Contest held by HumorPress.com, one of the Internet’s highest-ranking humor contest sites.

For her accomplishment, Ms. Minicozzi has earned publication in HumorPress.com’s online humor showcase. Her entry, “Password Pains,” is about a woman who is forced, by necessity, to change the passwords on at least fifteen of her favorite internet sites. Her only helper is her cat, Hermes.

“Password Pains” will be featured in the current showcase through mid-October 2012, after which new results from the bi-monthly contest will be posted.

HumorPress.com’s bi-monthly writing contests provide opportunities for writers who specialize in humor, and for those with real-life humorous anecdotes to share.

  1. Well done Kathy, massively deserved and many congrats. It’s rare for me to remember my own name but I remember Password Pains as if it was published on July 28, 2012. I don’t usually believe that perseverance and hard work pays off but you may just be changing my mind! Keep up the massively good work and well done again.

  2. “Big hairy freaking deal!” NO! You earned this and you deserve to celebrate! I don’t know if you are finding your voice, but I CAN tell an improvement in your writing over time.

    1. Wow! Thanks. Practice, studying with teachers who know their stuff and doing a lot of reading have, I think, helped me to improve.

Writing isn’t easy at all. It’s work. But it’s incredibly fun.
