The Himalayas are bordered on the north by the Tibetan Plateau, on the south by the Indo-Gangetic Plain, on the northwest by the Karakoram and Hindu Kush ranges and on the east by the Indian states of Sikkim, the Darjeeling district of West Bengal, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur. The Himalayas are also where Thirsty Dave went today.

Thirsty Dave oft’ visits a solitary place to sit and think and immerse himself in the latest wonders of technology.

  1. Thank you, Bill Y, for putting aside your usual humorous purposes in order to call attention to the very serious problem of the despoiling of Mt. Everest by burgeoning deposits of human excrement. I admire your social activism.

For more on this issue, please consult the article “Peak Poop” at outsideonline.com: “Every year it is getting worse with poop,” says Lakpa Rita, a 23-year veteran sirdar and 17-time sumitter. And as “Outside” senior editor Grayson Schaffer wrote in 2012, “The peak has become a fecal time bomb.”

I for one don’t want to be there when the time bomb blows up.
