Republican Senators Dominate National Institute of Mental Health’s March Madness Final Four

Thanks to his unhinged performance when interacting with Dr. Anthony Fauci in a Senate hearing on Thursday, Rand Paul has advanced to “Wingnut Weekend,” the annual tournament sponsored by NIMH in which the four most deranged U. S. Senators participate.  Paul will join fellow Republicans Josh Hawley, Ted Cruz, and #1 seed Marjorie Taylor Greene for the late March competition, to be held at the District of Columbia’s Capitol One Arena.

“Frankly, we thought Mitch McConnell had a lock on the 4th seed,” says NIMH Director Dr. Joshua Gordon.  “But McConnell has had occasional moments of lucidity in recent weeks, while Paul’s bravura display of a huge dose of bats**t crazy could not be ignored.  The selection committee was impressed.”

NIMH also announced the question to be debated by the four competitors in the semi-final and final rounds of Wingnut Weekend:

“Burkina Faso:  Land-locked country in West Africa or Outlaw Queen from the Planet Neptune?”

Gordon expressed confidence that this year’s tournament will be one of the most hotly contested since Strom Thurmond’s retirement from the Senate in 2003.
