  1. Thank you for bringing the Lego-as-adjective controversy to my attention, Bill Y. (And thank you for the message in your Tags.) I was unaware of the company’s condemnation of its use as a noun. Funny thing about language—no one person (or corporation) can legislate how people actually use it. As an erstwhile wordologist myself, I think the company has already lost this battle. “Legos” is so much more elegant and concise than “Lego bricks.”
In a related issue, if we didn’t use “Google” as a verb, we’d have to say, “I conducted an internet search on ‘Legos.'”
Did you know that wordologists used to (and maybe still do) object to “contact” as a verb. They insisted it was only a noun. More recently, the same evolution occurred with “impact.” It may be true, as someone once said, that verbing weirds the language. but c’est la vie.
Pinocchio wasn’t always a boy, but he BECAME one. I believe “Lego” has always self-identified as a noun and has grown/transformed to be one.

    1. Thanks for answering the call and stepping up to the plate, Bill.
