Strange How Many Variants On The Meaning Of The Word ‘trump’ Have Come About In The Past Decade!

At one time in recent literal history, the word ‘trump’ had the simple meaning of ‘to have a trick or card (in card playing terms) that can better or triumph over any other play or action made against it.’ Since the advent of someone possessing said word as his family name, the meaning of the word has mutated into a myriad of other possible meanings. We, at Wackers World Dictionary, have arranged a slew of possible meanings that this word has amazingly morphed into in the last decade. We have possibly not cataloged all of them and it seems more variations are coming about every day, much like the Covid virus.

The old word was such: ‘trump’- adjective, verb or noun. When capitalized, it is definitely a noun, especially if HE is in the room with you! (If so, be careful what you say!)

Here are the new variants (again, much like Covid) of the word ‘trump’ that we have assembled for your perusal:

Being boastful, arrogant, egoistic; ie. “He is such a trump!”

To use underhanded means in business dealings; ie. “He really trumped that shoddy building he sold!”

To be overbearing, bossy; ie.”He is such a trump when it comes to coaching people!”

To engage in illegal practices whether in politics, business, golf or everyday occurrences; ie. “Watch out for this guy! He will trump you every way he can!”

To pretend to be religious when you are really the worst of sinners. “The way that guy trumps around would embarrass the Devil himself!”

To engage in a political position as though you were a King; ie. “ We should call him ‘Your Royal Highness!’ if he continues to trump around like he is the biggest of the Big Shots!”

To be overwhelmingly overbearing and dictatorial to other countries; ie. “He is so trump you would think he was Emperor of the World!”

To be a dictator or fascist although denying it; ie. “Always keep an eye on him! He is a real trump no matter how nice and humble he acts!”

To be insatiably greedy; “ That guy is such a grifter that he will trump anything to make a buck!”

To think too well of oneself; ie. “That guy is so trump he thinks he is Superman or something!”

To assume you are always right despite evidence that you are not; ie. “That guy is ever so trump on every thing he states!”

To cheat at every possibility to protect your ego and your image; ie. “That guy will trump at golf whenever he can!”

To think you are more cool, handsome or sophisticated than you actually are; ie. “That family trumps around like they are gods and goddesses!”

To seize power swiftly and ruthlessly at every opportunity; ie. “I never thought we could be so thoroughly trumped in such a short time in my life!”

To pull the wool over people’s eyes; ie. “He trumped those people out of every penny that they had!”

To use every devious means possible to win at a game, an election, a contest, a contract or an argument for example; ie. “He certainly used every trump possible to win that election!”

To describe an especially corrupt person; ie “He certainly is a trump, isn’t he?!”

To describe a particularly shady deal; ie. “That was a trump contract if I ever saw one!”

Future tense examples would be “He trumped that whole financing on the poor guy!” or “He managed to trump the whole country!”

Past tense examples would be “He trumped them to the max on their loan!” or “I never saw such a trumping in my life!”

In the lower and darker echelons of our society there have even been more unsavory determinations of the word, especially in the expurgated sections of the notorious Epstein files; ie. “He then advanced upon her and, ripping her clothes off, proceeded to uninhibitedly trump her silly.” “As he stroked her smooth shoulders he softly suggested the ways he would like to trump her to ecstasy.” “There were no limits to the ways he wanted to trump her wantonly.”

There is a very good chance there will be more variants of the word evolving in the next four years………maybe even 8 years,,,,,,,,,,16?……..

You can bet on it!
