Sometimes you can spend such a long time practicing and rehearsing for something and at the end of the day, it makes as much sense as the Star Wars prequels. I used to play in a band and we had one hell of a serious gig lined up. There was going to be a lot of people in the audience that could open a lot of doors for us and some to even shut them after us. The band stopped drinking, got into shape and actually listened to people’s opinions. We spent a lot of time honing our stagecraft and the songs had a degree of emotional intensity not heard since Homer sang “Spiderpig”. Our big night finally arrived and everything seemed to be falling into place. We sound checked but were not happy with the sound at all. There was nothing but noise, coming from the bass. Some said it was because our bass player was a big metal fan:
