Less than twelve hours after the print version of my new book went on sale, Amazon had it discounted by 25 cents.
I can’t help wondering if they’ve lost their confidence in me.

I can’t imagine they lost confidence! But from a publisher point of view, they do this to keep competitive with other online sites that might have decided to list your book. It will go back up in price when other sites raise their prices. The thing to really watch out for is when a third party seller asks $11,000 for a book that Amazon has for 12.99
I’ve already had that happen to me! I’ve seen “Storm Chaser” for sale on Amazon for many times its original price.
