Town Suing Feds Over “Death Sentence” Decision

Bridge 2The town of Nowhere, Oregon, is suing the U.S. federal government for canceling the construction of a bridge and effectively consigning the declining community to an economic death.

Nowhere is located on an island and the bridge would connect it to the mainland. Funding was approved three years ago, but the “Bridge to Nowhere” project was canceled following a furious row on Capitol Hill over pork barrel politics.

To make matters worse, Congress will use the funds to build a highway for the nearby town of Somewhere.
