Princeton Uses NCAA Transfer Portal to Trade Nobel-Prize-Winning Professor to Clemson for Wide Receiver

In the most dramatic instance to date of the NCAA’s transfer portal being deployed to allow athletes to switch schools without losing a year of eligibility, Princeton University has obtained star wide receiver Haydinnian Draybolt from Clemson in exchange for Professor David MacMillan, winner of the 2021 Nobel Prize for Chemistry.

“This is a win-win,” says Princeton President Christopher Eisgruber.  “Our football team has been in desperate need of a talented wide receiver all season, and Clemson’s roster is five-deep at that position.  And although the chances of Dr. MacMillan winning another Nobel Prize are slim, Clemson gets itself a world-class chemistry professor.  What’s not to love?”

Draybolt is expected to start for Princeton against Lafayette this coming Saturday, while MacMillan will take over a Chemistry 101 course for a COVID-quarantined adjunct faculty member at Clemson on October 10th.
