Now You Can Smell Like a Computer!

Some artists in Australia got together with some perfumers to create and bottle the essence of a brand new, just-opened Apple product. Apparently, there are people who actually want to put this smell on themselves. If you don’t believe me, check this out:

That got me to thinking. If people can smell like computers, why not bottle other familiar smells? Here are some suggestions:

Sweet Home: A combination of the smell of Lysol, Lemon Pledge, dog, Hot Pockets in the microwave, carbon monoxide fumes from the leaf blower outside and Glade scented candles. Whoever wears this will carry home with him wherever he goes.

My Neighborhood: The combined odor of carbon monoxide emissions from passing cars, the neighbors’ lilac bush, the wholesale bakery up the street, cooking odors from various kitchens and a passing skunk.

Animal Shelter: The smells of many caged animals in a small space, their food and their bodily emissions.

Bookstore: The unmistakable aroma of virgin paperback books: books that have no creases or dog-eared pages and no breaks in their spines. It is the smell of new paper and new ink. This one should be popular with writers and English teachers.

This list could go on and on, but I think it would be more fun to let all of you think of your own special fragrance ideas.

  1. A friend of mine went for a job interview and the interviewer asked her what she would bring to the position. She said “my cute little self”. If I could bottle a fragrance, it would be the smell of her disappointment when she didn’t get the job.

    1. I like your friend, and I don’t even know her. That sounds almost as creative as one or two things that I have said at job interviews. 😀 I am working where I am now because I started out as a temp, from a temp agency, and they liked my work. If I had had to interview for the job, I probably wouldn’t have gotten it.
