The College-Bound Chronicles

For most parents, the road to college isn’t a cakewalk. It’s more like a tightrope walk without an enthralled audience. You’ve got to figure out a confusing system, push your teens to do more work, worry about whether they’re doing enough of it to be the chosen ones and then find a way to cough up enough cash to get them there. You need laughter and strategy to get you through it.

That’s why I’ve teamed up with broadcaster, Oprah.com parent expert and mom-in-the-trenches Lian Dolan for the new podcast series The College-Bound Chronicles. It’s free on iTunes or you can listen here. I’m putting on my psychologist, professor, comic, and “mom who’s been there” hats, to talk Lian through the process. We’re covering it all from start to finish acceptance: How do you motivate your kid to write an essay? (That’s a whole show!) What if you feel like slapping a competitive parent? (Move to another spot on the bleachers.)  Should you virtually pretend you are your teen to speed through the application process? (No!) Can you save money on college prep options? (Absolutely, and you don’t even need to make your own flashcards.)

If you’ve got a teen on the road to higher education, join us for this ride.
