HumorOutcasts Press Adds Shorehouse Books to its Publishing Family

Philadelphia, PA  HumorOutcasts Press has announced the addition of Shorehouse Books to its publishing family to accommodate authors of non-humor and non-comedy works.  The publishing company, which just celebrated its first anniversary, has already launched eight titles this year. While HumorOutcasts Press maintains no genre restrictions, founder Donna Cavanagh felt a non-humor name would make all authors comfortable with the publishing process.

“We named the press after our popular online humor magazine, HumorOutcasts.com,” Cavanagh notes. “It was a natural progression for us to go from assisting and promoting humor writers to helping authors achieve their publishing dream.  Honestly, we thought most of books we would publish would be in the humor/comedy genre, but we kept getting submissions from writers of all genres.”

In the first year, eight titles were released under the HumorOutcasts Press name. The publishing house took on first-time authors as well as best-selling authors including Jamie Reidy whose A Walk’s As Good As A Hit was released in April of 2013. Reidy’s first novel Hard Sell: The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman was turned into the film Love and Other Drugs.  HO Press titles  include works in the romance, comedy, erotica and drama genres.  In its debut release, Shorehouse Books launched The Evil That Men  Do by actor/director Deborah Fezelle and romance author Sherry Yanow.

“This book is the first part of a trilogy and it is already being made into a webseries,” says Cavanagh.  “We were so proud to publish this mystery/suspense/paranormal novel. It is getting rave reviews.”

Over the next six months, HO Press and Shorehouse Books will be releasing seven more titles, and early 2014 already has four more releases planned.

“Our goal with our site, HumorOutcasts.com and HumorOutcasts Press has always been to find talented writers and give them the exposure they deserve,” Cavanagh explains. “We understand that writers rarely have disposable income, so we take away the costs of self-publishing from them. If we accept a manuscript, we cover all upfront costs associated with getting a book published.  We earn back our investment through royalties.”
