Ice Ice Baby

The first time I went to meet Jill Y’s parents was a terrifying experience. I don’t usually care what people think of me and but I needed them to like be because I was pretty much infatuated with their daughter and Jill Y is very much a family person. Jill Y kept on telling me to be myself but I doubted if they would take to a Bon Jovi hating genius with a best friend called Thirsty Dave and a fascination with trying to figure out how magnets work. I wore my suit and my good Fonzie tie and was sweating as we got out of the car and walked up the driveway to greet them. They both took pictures of my tie and I thought that this was probably the best start I could have hoped for. They led us inside and began to pour me a drink and asked me to go to the fridge to get some ice. I opened the fridge door, took out the ice tray and brought it out. The three of them looked at me with the most serious look imaginable and said in unison “ice, ice baby”. They then started to dance à la Vanilla Ice style and I knew at that moment that I loved Jill Y and her parents:

  1. Um … well …

Oh, to hell with it! I’m glad you found the right family to mix in with, even if it’s a little like marrying into the Addams Family.

    1. There’s not a lot of people you can discuss magnets with for days at a time so now that I’ve found them, I ain’t letting go!

    1. Funny enough, that’s a topic of conversation that never comes up. She does however go cold on me when I mention kids.

  2. I love this. It’s sweet in a disturbing kind of way. . .or disturbing in a sweet kind of way. Sounds like you and Jill are perfectly matched.
