Rick Perry Cuts Education: Hasn’t Learned From His Own Example of Being An Idiot

During a speech given at the National Right to Life Convention on Thursday, Rick Perry offered what many are considering a low blow when he shined the spotlight on state Senator Wendy Davis’ personal life:

“Even the woman who filibustered the Senate the other day was born into difficult circumstances. She was the daughter of a single woman, she was a teenage mother herself. She managed to eventually graduate from Harvard Law School and serve in the Texas senate. It is just unfortunate that she hasn’t learned from her own example that every life must be given a chance to realize its full potential and that every life matters.”

The translation is, of course: “She’s a dirty sinning teen mom.”

Leaving aside the unfortunate fact that hundreds of Texans who have been put to death for murder (the ones who actually did it, mind you) did not particularly ‘realize their potential’ too well, Rick Perry didn’t learn from his own example of being an idiot when he pushed for cuts to education in Texas. Perhaps by cutting education in a state with already dismally performing students, Perry is simply engaging in a form of non-biological “cloning”.

  1. The cuts also included a $140 million reduction in state funding for higher education, which led state-run colleges and universities to increase fees by 63 percent over four years.

  2. Perry has to support the anti-abortion agenda. He needs all of those low-wage laborers to attract Chinese businesses to Texas.
