No Longer Lovin’ It

On Friday The Wall Street Journal reported that the operator of the McDonald’s chain in Japan was forced to recall almost one million McNuggets (which collectively contain one chicken’s worth of meat). The nuggets in question came from a production facility in Thailand. McDonalds Japan now uses three Thai suppliers after a previous incident in which a Chinese supplier created the chicken delicacy out of expired meat.

The nuggets were recalled after someone found a piece of plastic inside a McNugget. Health authorities have narrowed the cause of the violation to two possible scenarios:

1) Plastic is used to create the crunchy, golden skin (whose formula is a closely-guarded company secret). The plastic found inside the nugget failed to convert into skin after not being heated to the appropriate temperature.

2) An employee working in the Thai nugget factory is actually an Arby’s employee working undercover to sabotage a competitor.

A red polyester outfit found in the employee break-room trash can is leading authorities to suspect the second scenario is the most likely cause of the incident.

Reached for comment a McDonald’s Japan spokesman said “We are still investigating how a piece of plastic got into one of our McNuggets. But we can say with absolute certainty at this time that it didn’t come from a used condom.”
